Plymouth acid attack victim dies in hospital

A tragic incident has occurred as a man has passed away in the hospital after being attacked with acid in his own home, according to the police. Danny Cahalane, age 38, who was known to be an “outstanding father and son”, was assaulted in Lipson Road, Plymouth, on 21 February while he was at home with his daughter. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed his death on Saturday.

The family of Mr. Cahalane released a tribute expressing their struggles to come to terms with his passing. They highlighted his special role within the family and among his friends, stating that they hold dear his love and memories. This loss has deeply impacted them, as they cope with the heartbreaking news of his death.

Following the attack, nine individuals – seven men from London and two women from Plymouth – have been charged in connection with the incident. The charges include conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to kidnap for six of the men and both women, amongst other serious offenses. The legal proceedings are set to take place in Plymouth Crown Court, with eight of the defendants scheduled to appear on 12 May and one on 16 June. Throughout this difficult time, Mr. Cahalane’s family has requested privacy and respect.
