Liverpool’s bustling Princess Drive, a key route that caters to a health center, nursery, private businesses, and hundreds of residences, is gearing up for extensive upgrades and surface repairs. Thanks to the Liverpool City Council’s Highways Investment Programme, the stretch from Saxby Road to Deysbrook Lane will undergo significant road improvements.
Huyton Asphalt is slated to kick off the project on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, with an estimated duration of around 20 weeks. The scheduled work hours are from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday, although the timing may shift due to unforeseen circumstances like inclement weather. The upgrades encompass carriageway resurfacing, installation of new road gullies, new kerbing, replacement of ironwork, and road marking enhancements.
To ensure safety during construction, some restrictions on footways and the carriageway will be implemented. Liverpool City Council and Huyton Asphalt are dedicated to minimizing inconvenience and appreciate the public’s cooperation. The initiative, funded through a LiveLabs2 contribution, will utilize Milepave solution from Miles Macadam to treat both the rigid and flexible sections, a £1.3m project that will lead to significant carbon savings.
Liverpool’s Highways Investment Programme has already made remarkable strides in improving the city’s infrastructure. Over 100,000 square meters of roads have been resurfaced, offering smoother and safer journeys for motorists, while more than 100 tactile crossings have been installed for enhanced pedestrian accessibility. This initiative has also contributed to saving 68 tonnes of CO₂ emissions through innovative construction methods, illustrating a commitment to sustainability
