OutKast are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

OutKast, The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, and more have been announced as inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the Class of 2025. The announcement was made on Sunday, April 27, during an episode of American Idol, with an official ceremony scheduled to take place later this year in Los Angeles. In addition to OutKast, other first-time nominees like Chubby Checker, Bad Company, and Joe Cocker are also up for induction in the performer category, alongside previously-nominated artists like Cyndi Lauper, The White Stripes, and Soundgarden.

Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon have been named as recipients of the Musical Influence Award, while Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Carol Kaye will each receive the Musical Excellence Award. Speaking on the Class of 2025, John Sykes of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame praised the impact of the inductees on culture and the change they brought to the rock and roll genre. Their music not only resonated with generations but also influenced countless artists who came after them.

Artists qualify for induction 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording. Over 1,200 music historians, previous inductees, and industry professionals are involved in the selection process. Unfortunately, musicians who did not make the cut this year include Oasis, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, and Mariah Carey, among others. The official induction ceremony for the Class of 2025 is set to take place on November 8 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. More information about the inductees can be found on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website
