Ammanford stabbing: Schoolgirl sentenced to 15 years after attack

A 14-year-old girl has been handed a 15-year detention sentence after stabbing two teachers and a pupil while uttering threats. The girl, whose identity remains undisclosed due to her age, will be required to serve at least half of the sentence in custody. This ruling came after a retrial at Swansea Crown Court in February, following the collapse of the initial trial.

The attack took place at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Carmarthenshire last April, where Fiona Elias, Liz Hopkin, and a pupil were hospitalized for stab wounds. The teenager, who reportedly carried a weapon to school on a daily basis, used her father’s multi-tool knife in the assault. During the sentencing, Judge Paul Thomas noted the girl’s lack of remorse and motivation for seeking attention by committing the violent act.
