The police confirmed that the cordon around the crime scene on Otley Road was lifted on Sunday evening, signaling progress in the investigation. Det Ch Supt James Dunkerley highlighted that the authorities are actively working to uncover the details surrounding the incident and reassured the public that no other suspects are being sought in connection to the case.

In response to the incident, Alison Lowe, deputy mayor of West Yorkshire for policing and crime, provided assurance that the threat has been neutralized with the suspect under police custody. She promised an increased police presence in Headingley to address public concerns and ensure safety in the area.
