The results detail a comprehensive understanding of attendees’ gig habits, from preferred genres, concerns around physical safety and the environment, information about those unable to attend, and attitudes towards venues, running from January to April 2025, revealing a need for greater support for local live music communities.

Post-2020, venues, and nightclubs across the country faced increased pressures from the pandemic, especially with lost business and support, leading to closures and redundancies from staff and volunteers.

The study also indicated that 33% of music fans can’t attend live gigs due to physical disabilities, limited access and cost, and various venues need more support to offer accessible spaces.

Recently, UK Music held a discussion on greater venue transparency, with proposed changes to the Licensing Act welcomed by 92% of participants.

Less than 12% of attendees report regular drug use at clubs, whilst almost half alleged that improved lighting or segregated areas could prevent accidents.
