P&O Cruises has issued an apology to nearly 1,900 passengers after deciding to cancel a cruise due to an incomplete ship refit. The cruise ship Aurora was set to depart from Southampton on Monday for a three-day journey to Zeebrugge, Belgium. However, passengers were notified via email on Sunday that the cruise would not be going ahead as planned.
One of the affected passengers, Stacey Pinhorne, expressed her disappointment with the situation, stating that the company should have provided more notice about the cancellation. She highlighted the fact that her and her friend had taken time off work to celebrate their 50th birthdays on the trip, making the last-minute cancellation even more upsetting.
Despite the inconvenience caused to the passengers, P&O Cruises has assured that all affected customers will be receiving a full refund for their tickets. The cruise line also mentioned that a future cruise credit of 20% of the amount paid will be provided to the passengers as compensation for the cancellation.
The spokesperson for P&O Cruises attributed the cancellation to the delay in the ship’s refit process, which is currently ongoing in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The cruise line has expressed regret over the situation, emphasizing the disappointment it has caused to the passengers.
