A heartwarming rescue took place when a lifeboat crew successfully saved a stranded dog near a cliff edge. Ember, a six-year-old spaniel, found herself trapped by a sea cliff in Anglesey after chasing a ball during a walk along a coastal path with her owner. The RNLI volunteers had just finished a training session on their inshore lifeboat when the owner sought their assistance at the lifeboat station.
Despite the challenging location and the inability of the public to see the stranded spaniel, the crew managed to locate Ember and carefully maneuvered their way up onto the ledge. Moelfre RNLI coxswain, Vince Jones, emphasized the inaccessibility of where the dog was trapped from the cliff top, requiring them to don their drysuits and lifejackets to enter the water and reach the stranded spaniel. After some reassuring words, Ember calmed down, allowing them to secure a lead on her and safely reunite her with her owner.
Jones commended the owner for taking the correct course of action by seeking help from the lifeboat station and cautioned against attempting to rescue a pet in distress oneself. Instead, he advised the public to contact 999 and request assistance from the Coastguard in such situations. The successful rescue of Ember showcased the dedication and readiness of the RNLI crew to respond to emergencies and ensure the safety of both humans and animals in need
