A recent initiative to support the cultural scene in Vilnius, Lithuania has been announced, with a funding of €165,000 allocated to grassroots venues in the city. Known as Dainyklos, this new program is aimed at bolstering independent spaces in Vilnius and enhancing the live culture scene from its core. The initiative will benefit 17 diverse cultural venues in Vilnius, including jazz clubs, rock venues, queer spaces, experimental performance clubs, and poetry salons.
Each of these venues will receive funding ranging from €9,000 to €10,000 from the total fund of €165,000. The allocated funds can be utilized for various purposes such as artist fees, equipment purchases, licensing, promotion, administrative costs, and technical needs. The call for applicants opened in January and closed recently, with plans to reopen annually. To be eligible, venues must meet specific criteria like hosting a minimum of 50 events per year and having proper infrastructure in place.
The team behind the Dainyklos initiative expressed their excitement about the program becoming a reality after much effort. They believe that the initiative will bring vibrancy to Vilnius’ music scene, attract more audiences to the venues, and ensure that artists receive the recognition and support they deserve.
