Jim Lycett, a former British Army soldier who found solace in gardening after his military service, emphasized the importance of the garden in his life. Within the garden, a woodland area with vibrant plants along the edges represents the colorful dress of the Chelsea Pensioners. The garden designer, Dave Green, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work closely with the Chelsea Pensioners in crafting this meaningful space. Post the flower show, the garden will be relocated to the Royal Hospital as a permanent fixture for the pensioners, their families, and the wider community to enjoy. Green envisions this project as a lasting legacy that celebrates the veterans’ service and provides a peaceful retreat for all who visit.

Overall, the garden not only showcases the beauty of nature but also serves as a symbol of gratitude and respect for the Chelsea Pensioners and their enduring legacy at the Royal Hospital Chelsea
