Two arrested after 17-year-old stabbed at Oxford park event

Following a series of violent incidents in the Oxford area, two individuals have been detained by authorities. The events, including the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy at a community gathering in Blackbird Leys Park, have sparked concern among residents. The boy is currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the attack, which occurred on a Sunday afternoon.

Thames Valley Police took action by implementing stop-and-search measures in response to the string of stabbings. The temporary powers lapsed at 19:25 BST as the investigation into the incidents progressed. Authorities confirmed that an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old, both from Oxford, were apprehended on suspicion of inflicting serious bodily harm with intent. The suspects are currently in police custody as enquiries continue.

In addition to the recent altercation in Blackbird Leys Park, the 18-year-old suspect faces charges related to a separate incident at Fry’s Hill Park. This incident, which occurred on March 25, resulted in the slashing of a 15-year-old boy’s face. The 18-year-old is also under investigation for attempted murder in connection with the Fry’s Hill Park altercation. Another individual, a 16-year-old from Bicester, was also taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder in this case but has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
