A woman’s efforts to retrieve her father’s ashes, which went missing in the post during a transatlantic mix-up, have finally come to a resolution. Lisa Barrett, 63, shared that her sister in the US had sent a sample of their father’s ashes to her home in Doncaster because she was unable to attend the funeral. Unfortunately, the parcel never reached Lisa, and Royal Mail indicated that it had been sent back to the US due to a customs fee issue. Surprisingly, the United States Postal Service denied receiving the package.
Fortunately, the situation took a positive turn when Lisa’s sister, Laura Greeno, 56, confirmed that the package had been returned to her by the postal service. Lisa expressed being “really overwhelmed” after being reunited with the ashes of her late father, Kenneth Wilson, who passed away in the US in 2021. Royal Mail stepped up to compensate for the mix-up by sending financial compensation and a box of flowers to Lisa. This ordeal brought the siblings closer, with Lisa acknowledging that they had to set aside their differences and collaborate to resolve the issue.
In an emotional moment, Lisa described how a recent video call with her sister was the first time they had seen each other since around 2018. The reunion brought tears to Lisa’s eyes as she expressed her feelings of seeing her sister as beautiful.
