City-wide hunt for XL Bully missing after Sheffield shooting

Grace Wood from BBC News in Yorkshire reported on a recent incident where officers were attempting to locate an XL Bully that escaped after police marksmen shot at the animal. The search for the dog has led authorities to contact all veterinary practices in Sheffield in hopes of tracking it down. The incident took place on Daniel Hill Street in Hillfoot, following reports of a shooting in the area.

According to a police spokesperson, armed officers decided to fire at the dog as it displayed hostile behavior while they were investigating the alleged gunfire at a property. It was noted that the dog may have sustained injuries before fleeing the scene, and the public was cautioned against approaching the animal due to its potential to act aggressively and cause harm. The authorities have urged anyone who spots the XL Bully to immediately contact emergency services.

The decision to shoot the dog was described as a challenging one by the police spokesperson, emphasizing the need to protect the community and gather information about the suspect and possible weapons involved in the incident. Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the whereabouts of the XL Bully, especially if it has been taken in for medical treatment or has succumbed to its injuries. They have reached out to veterinary practices as part of their search efforts but continue to advise against direct contact with the dog due to safety concerns.
