Artist of 'the worst' picture of Trump says criticism damaging her business

The backlash against British-born artist Sarah A Boardman’s official portrait of President Donald Trump has taken a toll on her business. After Trump publicly criticized her work as the “worst” in a post on Truth Social, stating that it had been distorted due to her aging talent, Boardman expressed concern about her business’s future.

Boardman, who painted Trump’s portrait for the Denver State Capitol Gallery of Presidents where it hung for six years, revealed that President Trump’s comments have had a direct and negative impact on her business of over 41 years. She emphasized that the additional allegations made by Trump are threatening the recovery of her business.

The artist was commissioned by the Colorado State Capitol Advisory Committee in Denver to create the portrait, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews and feedback during its time in the Colorado State Capitol Building Rotunda. However, since Trump’s critical comments, Boardman has seen a significant shift in the reception of her work, with negative implications for her longstanding business.

Despite Trump’s remarks, Boardman maintained that she completed the portrait accurately, without any intentional distortion, bias, or attempt to caricature the subject.
