New Zealand authorities are currently investigating the deaths of a British couple as a possible murder-suicide, according to the police. The unidentified man and woman were discovered in Roseneath, a suburb of Wellington, after concerns were raised, leading to a welfare check by officers on Monday. The couple had relocated from the UK to New Zealand towards the end of last year.
Detective Inspector Haley Ryan confirmed that the police are not seeking any other individuals in connection with the incident but are appealing for any information that could assist in the investigation. Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office stated that they had not been notified about the tragic event. Authorities are providing support to the bereaved family and have asked for respect towards the family’s privacy during this mourning period.
Following a request from a worried family member, the police found the two bodies upon entering a property on Palliser Road. A neighbor, Emma Prestidge, mentioned that the couple had recently moved to the area from London, intending to settle down for the foreseeable future. New Zealand police have encouraged anyone with CCTV footage in the vicinity to come forward with any relevant information. The case has been referred to the coroner for further examination.
