This May, Liverpool will host a highly anticipated netball event at the M&S Bank Arena. Thousands of fans from across the UK are expected to fill the arena to watch the North West’s top netball players compete. The event will feature a match between Manchester Thunder and Birmingham Panthers as they vie for the 2025 Netball Super League (NSL) title.

Ticket sales are now open for this significant netballing event, marking Liverpool’s return to hosting top-tier sporting events since the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup. The matchup between Manchester Thunder and Birmingham Panthers is set to draw passionate fans of all ages to create an electrifying atmosphere at the arena. This will be Manchester Thunder’s first time playing in Liverpool, adding to the excitement of the event.

Ben Williams, the Commercial & Business Development Manager for M&S Bank Arena, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming netball back to the city. This event not only highlights Liverpool’s rich sporting history but also showcases the city as a destination for premier sporting competitions. Karen Greig, the Head Coach and Franchise Director for Manchester Thunder, emphasized the importance of engaging with local and elite netball communities to drive interest and participation in the sport.

As netball’s popularity continues to surge across the UK, the Netball Super League (NSL) is evolving towards professionalism. The introduction of the new Super Shot rule allows teams to score double goals in specific areas during the final five minutes of each quarter. The top four teams from the Super League season will advance to the semi-finals in June, followed by the Grand Final at the O2 in July.
