Knife and illegal vapes seized in Anfield during Community Impact Day

During a recent Community Impact Day in Anfield, a knife and one hundred illegal vapes were uncovered, highlighting the collaborative efforts of various organizations in addressing community concerns. Led by the Council’s Private Sector Housing Team on Thursday, March 27th, the event saw the participation of local authorities such as Merseyside Police, Liverpool Streetscene Ltd, Your Housing Group, Riverside Housing, and the Breckfield Centre.

Specific outcomes from the day’s activities included visits to residents on Chapel Road, The Coppice, and Monastery Road in response to reports of consistent anti-social behavior. Merseyside Police also made significant findings during alleyway searches around Chapel Road, recovering a blade that could potentially be used as a weapon. Additionally, the Licensing and Tobacco Unit seized 100 illicit vapes from two shops on Townsend Lane and Priory Road, while Liverpool Streetscene Ltd documented evidence on fly-tipping for further investigation.

The Landlord Licensing team conducted compliance inspections on privately rented properties and gathered information on potentially unlicensed properties. The day also saw efforts from the Breckfield Centre in conducting a litter pick to enhance the appearance of streets in the area. With ongoing cases referred to relevant services for investigation, partners remain committed to monitoring and addressing the raised concerns.

In reflecting on the day’s success, Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins emphasized the neighborhood approach in identifying and proactively tackling issues of concern to local residents. Anfield Councillor, Billy Marrat, hailed the productivity of the event in making the area safer and more resilient for its residents.
