A tragic incident occurred in Newtownards, County Down, where a man lost his life in a fire at an over-55s accommodation. The authorities were alerted to the fire at a flat within the accommodation shortly after 18:15 GMT on a Tuesday. Despite the arrival of emergency services, the man was found deceased at the site. Fortunately, two other residents were treated for smoke inhalation, with no further reports of serious injuries.
Radius Housing, the organization that manages the fold, disclosed that ten residents were unable to return to their homes on the evening of the incident. “Radius staff have helped them find alternative accommodation,” they assured.
