The parking measures implemented around Everton FC’s new stadium are set to undergo a review. These measures were introduced as part of an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) during the stadium’s inaugural event last month. The suspension of these measures is primarily focused on the business areas within the new zone.
The review process officially commences following the successful second test event at the waterfront stadium. The temporary halt of the measures extends along the city’s waterfront from Canada Dock to the Leeds Street corridor at the city center boundary, and eastwards to the Pumpfields district. The ETRO parking zone will remain in place in residential districts, spanning from Eldonian Village to Great Homer Street and north to Kirkdale.
Residents who have not yet obtained parking permits are urged to do so, as these permits are free of charge. Each household is eligible for a visitor permit, also provided free of cost. The decision to review the measures in the business areas allows the Council to evaluate feedback from the public consultation exercise, with over 5,000 responses received thus far.
Following the amendments made after the first test event, an updated ETRO is expected to be announced by August before the start of the new football season at Everton FC’s Bramley Moore Dock venue. Various improvements have been implemented based on feedback from the initial test event, such as a review of the event traffic management plan, enhancements to street lighting, improved pedestrian wayfinding signage, and temporary signs to indicate shuttle bus and taxi rank locations
