Ant Middleton banned as company director over £1m unpaid tax

Ant Middleton, former chief instructor on SAS: Who Dares Wins, has been disqualified as a company director after failing to pay over £1 million in taxes. The Insolvency Service revealed that Middleton and his wife, Emilie, were withdrawing millions of pounds from their company, Sway and Starting, instead of paying the owed tax. The company, which provided “media representation services,” went into liquidation in 2022 with outstanding debts of £300,000 in VAT and £800,000 in corporation tax.

Despite generating £4.5 million in income over three years, the company failed to meet its tax obligations, leading to the disqualification of the couple as directors for four years. Dave Magrath, from the Insolvency Service, emphasized that Middleton and Emilie had a legal responsibility to ensure the company paid its taxes, urging other directors to comply with their financial duties to avoid similar consequences.

Middleton, alongside his wife, had taken a £3 million directors’ loan from the company, with plans to settle the outstanding amount through a payment plan. However, Middleton only made the first payment before putting their home up for sale in an attempt to repay the remaining balance. The former UK Special Forces soldier left SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2021 following allegations of inappropriate behavior off-camera, citing that the show had been taken over by the “woke patrol.”

The ban on Middleton serves as a warning to directors who neglect their tax responsibilities while redirecting funds elsewhere. Despite his success on the reality show, Middleton’s financial misconduct has led to consequences that have impacted his professional career. Middleton and his wife have not publicly commented on the disqualification or the reasons behind their company’s failure to pay taxes
