Just days before its scheduled opening, a Greggs store in Exhall, near Coventry, was the target of a destructive arson attack. Witnesses described the scene at the bakery on an industrial estate as turning into an “inferno” around 20:00 GMT on Friday, with the entire building engulfed in flames. The chain’s new location on Longford Road was set to open its doors on Monday, a spokesperson for Greggs confirmed.

Fortunately, there were no reports of anyone being inside the building at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported, according to Warwickshire Police.
