Venetian Snares’ Aaron Funk returns with first solo release in 11 years

Aaron Funk, the Canadian producer also known as Venetian Snares, has recently dropped his first solo single in over a decade. The track, titled ‘Drums’, was released on Tuesday, March 18, as part of Planet Mu’s 30th-anniversary compilation album, featuring 25 songs from various artists within the label’s roster and beyond. The single showcases Venetian Snares’ signature style, with 808 snares, modular synthwork, and energetic break samples.

Planet Mu’s full V/A compilation is scheduled to be released on May 9, marking 30 years since the label’s inception in 1995. The album will include contributions from Jlin, Traxman, Slikback, RP Boo, DJ Manny, Jana Rush, DJ Girl, Luke Vibert, Elmoe, and more. The label is described as forging its own path in the electronic music scene, pushing boundaries and staying ahead of the curve.

In celebration of their 30th anniversary, Planet Mu has announced two upcoming parties in London and Berlin. The London event is set for May 3 at Corsica Studios, while the Berlin party will take place at Silent Green on June 21.
