A tragic incident unfolded on the M4 when a driver pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of a mother and daughter. Cheryl Woods, 61, and her daughter Sarha Smith, 40, from Caerphilly, lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash on 20th October 2023, between junction 17 for Chippenham and junction 18 for Bath. Firas Zeineddine, 46, admitted to two charges of causing death by careless driving during a court hearing at Swindon Crown Court.
Originally facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving, Zeineddine accepted the lesser charges brought against him. The sentencing for this tragic incident is scheduled for 28th April. The prosecution confirmed that Zeineddine’s guilty pleas were acceptable, and there would be no trial. Mrs. Woods was remembered as a loving mother and grandmother in a poignant family statement, expressing the deep loss felt by her six daughters.
