Man admits causing deaths of three teens in Shipston-on-Stour crash

A tragic incident unfolded as a man has confessed to causing the deaths of three teenagers in a careless driving incident. Edward Spencer, 18, was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta when it collided with a Fiat 500 on Campden Road near Shipston-on-Stour in April 2023. The crash resulted in the heartbreaking loss of Harry Purcell, 17, Matilda Seccombe, 16, and Frank Wormald, 16, passengers in the car driven by Spencer.

The four teenagers were on their way home from Chipping Campden School in Gloucestershire at the time of the fatal crash. Additionally, two children aged 10 and 12, who were also in the Fiat along with their stepmother and another teenager, sustained “life-changing” injuries. Initially, Spencer, who was 17 years old at the time of the accident, had entered a plea of not guilty to six charges but decided to change his plea during a recent court hearing.
