Simbiatu Ajikawo, who goes by the stage name Little Simz, is reportedly caught up in a legal dispute with her former producer, Inflo, over unpaid loans exceeding $2 million. According to Law360, Ajikawo filed a claim against Dean Cover, also known as Inflo, in January, alleging that he borrowed $2.2 million through various substantial sums. The claim states that Cover failed to repay the loans and unlawfully kept funds that were meant for album recording expenses.
Reportedly, Ajikawo made two payments to Cover in late 2022, one for £350,000 and the other for £275,000, as part of an agreement to produce her third studio album ‘GREY Area.’ Any money unspent on recording costs was supposed to be returned to Ajikawo. However, she discovered in October 2024 that Cover had used almost £525,000 for recording costs, leaving over £100,000 to be refunded.
In addition to the initial loans, Ajikawo allegedly lent Cover £1 million on December 1, 2023, to facilitate a unique SAULT show at the London superclub DRUMSHEDS, with a return deadline of December 4. Cover failed to repay the money by the agreed time, claiming that he was finalizing his deal. The filing also mentions two more loans sent to Cover in the same month, one for £500,000 and the other for £200,000.
Ajikawo supposedly encountered financial difficulties the following month, making it impossible for her to settle her entire tax obligation, resulting in additional fees and accumulated interest. The legal battle between Little Simz and Inflo continues to unfold, with allegations of unpaid loans and misappropriated funds
