Soccer Aid 2025: Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney to co-manage England at Old Trafford

Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury are teaming up as co-managers for England’s Soccer Aid 2025, where Rooney will also be making a return to the pitch after coming out of retirement. The annual charity match, taking place on June 15, will see the duo leading England against a World XI at Old Trafford, the iconic home of Manchester United.

Last year’s Soccer Aid, which raised over £15m for Unicef, was held at Stamford Bridge. Fury expressed his excitement for the upcoming match, comparing the thrill of leading his England team to victory to that of a heavyweight fight. Being a devoted Manchester United supporter, Fury highlighted the honor of managing a team on the historic grounds of Old Trafford alongside his hero, Rooney.

Rooney, who at 39 managed in the 2020 Soccer Aid and participated in the subsequent year’s game, is thrilled to share the managerial duties with Fury, whom he admires as a fellow sports enthusiast. The former England striker is eager to don his football boots once more and reunite with old teammates like Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, while new faces like Joe Hart, Steph Houghton, and Toni Duggan will be making their Soccer Aid debuts.

Joining the roster of celebrities and sports personalities are singer Louis Tomlinson, Olympian Sam Quek, comedian Paddy McGuinness, musician Tom Grennan, and long-distance runner Sir Mo Farah. Representing the World XI are debutants like former Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci and Denmark forward Nadia Nadim. Over the years, Soccer Aid has raised a staggering £106m for charity since its inception in 2006
