Police Scotland confirmed that a 14-year-old boy has been brought to court on charges related to the murder of Amen Teklay, a 15-year-old boy. The incident occurred in the St George’s Cross area of Glasgow last Wednesday. Apart from the murder charge, the teenager is also facing a separate assault charge alongside a 15-year-old boy. The two accused individuals did not enter a plea during their private appearance before Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Additionally, court papers reveal that the 14-year-old was found in possession of a knife on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow three days prior to the fatal attack on Clarendon Street. On the other hand, the 15-year-old is accused of carrying a barrier pole at the same time or location. While the 14-year-old has been remanded in custody, the 15-year-old has been granted bail by Sheriff Jonathan Guy.
Over the weekend, a gathering was held at a football park in Scotstoun, where Amen often played, to pay tribute to the young boy of Eritrean descent. At the vigil, Amen’s father expressed gratitude toward the community and attendees for their support.
