Trump Turnberry vandalised by pro-Palestine group

A group supporting Palestine has vandalized parts of the Turnberry golf resort owned by Donald Trump in Scotland. Pictures posted by Palestine Action on social media show red paint splattered on one of the buildings at the Ayrshire course. The message “Gaza is not for sale” is visible on one green, while another green appears to have been dug up. Additionally, a damaged lamp post at the resort was pictured, leading to a spokesperson from the Trump Organisation condemning the act as “childish” and “criminal.”

Police Scotland has confirmed that they are investigating the incident. The vandalism comes in response to President Trump’s controversial proposal to empty the Gaza strip of its Palestinian inhabitants and transform the area into a resort. Trump’s notion of taking over Gaza and redeveloping it was met with international criticism. Following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump made the statement that the US would assume control of the Gaza Strip, sparking further debate and backlash from multiple nations.

In response to the incident, the Trump Organisation assured that the disruption would not affect business at Turnberry, emphasizing the property’s status as a top-notch luxury golf destination. The resort, which has hosted The Open Championship four times, underwent significant renovations after being purchased by Trump in 2014. Trump’s passion for golf led him to invest in Turnberry as well as the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen. Despite the controversy surrounding his golf ventures in Scotland, Trump remains a frequent visitor to the country and even had the opportunity to meet with King Charles at Balmoral last month.

Palestine Action, the group responsible for the vandalism, has labeled themselves as a “direct action network dismantling British complicity with Israeli apartheid.” In a statement, the group expressed their disapproval of Trump’s treatment of Gaza and vowed to continue their resistance against US-Israeli colonialism. Meanwhile, Police Scotland continues to investigate the damage caused at Turnberry, showcasing the ongoing tensions surrounding Trump’s golf properties in Scotland
