Kevin Booth, a man in his 60s, has been issued the first global travel ban by a Scottish court after he was found guilty of abusing vulnerable women at his home in the Scottish Highlands. Booth conducted “punishment beatings” using various implements such as whips, canes, and riding crops at his Victorian-style hunting lodge, Lochdhu Lodge in Altnabreac, Caithness. The court ruling stated that Booth engaged in a “systematic course of conduct of acts of human trafficking and exploitation” spanning multiple years.
The travel ban, approved after a civil action raised by Police Scotland, prohibits Booth from leaving the UK for the next five years. In addition to the travel ban, Sheriff Neil Wilson ordered that Booth must inform the police before hiring any woman for household roles at his residence.
