The van had struck a tram before mounting the pavement, resulting in the fatal accident. The young girl, who was from Burnley, was enjoying a family day out when the unimaginable tragedy occurred at around 10:00 GMT on a Saturday.
The man responsible for the incident, Rawal Rehman, aged 35 and from Manchester, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving according to Greater Manchester Police. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Magistrates’ Court at a later date to address the charges. Louisa’s parents expressed their devastation, stating that their only child was their whole world and that her absence has left an irreplaceable void within their family.
Despite efforts from first responders, including an air ambulance crew, to save Louisa at the scene outside Manchester Art Gallery, she tragically passed away in the hospital. Her parents conveyed the immense pain and sorrow they are enduring, emphasizing that their lives were shattered beyond repair in a moment. The loss of their beloved daughter has left an unbearable emptiness, and they expressed how much they miss her beyond words
