Dr. Menatalla Elwan, 34, who worked at an NHS trust in Liverpool, faced legal action from the Home Office after reposting footage of civilians fleeing Hamas terrorists during the attacks, along with comments that were deemed to glorify terrorist violence.
The Home Office attempted to revoke Elwan’s temporary right to remain in the UK due to her posts, but she fought against this decision and received support from an immigration tribunal judge. The judge mentioned that Elwan’s comments showed support, justification, and glorification of Hamas terrorist violence, but also considered her overall positive record during her time in the UK.

Although her posts sparked controversy and led to legal action, the judge acknowledged that Elwan’s conduct was a one-time incident in the context of her otherwise positive presence in the UK. While the cancellation of her leave to remain was overturned, Elwan’s appeal for indefinite leave to remain was rejected, leaving her future status in the country uncertain
