The community of Liverpool is coming together to commemorate the third anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. Members of the Liverpool branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain will join in solidarity for this important event. The service will be held at Liverpool Parish Church of St Nicholas on Monday, February 24th at 6:30 pm. The program will feature an introduction from Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Richard Kemp, and a bible reading by the Kings Representative on Merseyside, the Lord Lieutenant, Mark Blundell.
Ukrainian choirs will offer moving musical performances during the service. The Reverend Bill Addy, along with Reverend Dr. Taras Khomych, the Ukrainian Priest and Chair of the AUGB Liverpool Branch, will lead the service. Additionally, there will be a gathering at St Luke’s Church (the Bombed Out Church) at 5:30 pm on the same day. Event organizer Liuda Sergiienko emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the challenges Ukraine is facing post-invasion. She expressed gratitude for the support received from the people of Liverpool and stressed the sacrifices Ukrainian soldiers are making in defense of their country and Europe as a whole. Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Richard Kemp, acknowledged the unity of the Ukrainian community in Liverpool and highlighted the sacrifices made by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the face of Russian aggression.
