A group of individuals at a mobile home park, once hopeful for a dreamlike living situation, are now facing what can only be described as a “nightmare” scenario. Willow Park in Mancot, Flintshire, owned by Alfie Best’s company, Wyldecrest Parks, has failed to meet resident’s expectations. The site’s license was not renewed when it expired in July 2023, and an appeal for a new license was also rejected last year.
Residents have been struggling with numerous issues such as potholes, inadequate lighting, and water leaks with no resolution in sight. Despite paying a quarterly maintenance fee to Wyldecrest, no upkeep is being carried out, leaving the site in poor condition. Long-term resident Julie Davies expressed the frustration of the residents, stating that they feel abandoned by all parties involved, including Wyldecrest and the local council.
Flintshire council cited complaints from residents regarding the conditions on the site as the reason for refusing a residential mobile homes license to Wyldecrest Parks in October 2024. While residents like Ms. Morgan are caught in a legal limbo, unable to take her elderly father out in fear of potholes tipping over his wheelchair. Additionally, the residents are reportedly paying three times the amount they should for water due to leaks, a situation that Welsh Water claims must be addressed by the landlord.
Amidst the ongoing issues at Willow Park, Wyldecrest spokesman David Sunderland denied allegations of ignoring residents and stated the company’s commitment to resolving the situation. The Welsh government defers comments on the matter to the local authority, while Wyldecrest’s Willow Brook Park in Sandycroft, another site in Flintshire, is also facing licensing issues.
