A woman from Poland who previously claimed to be Madeleine McCann has been arrested at Bristol Airport. Julia Wandelt, 23, was taken into custody along with a 60-year-old woman from Wales on suspicion of stalking that caused serious alarm and distress. The arrest occurred after Ms. Wandelt arrived in Bristol on the evening of 19 February, as confirmed by her PR representative Surjit Singh Clair.
Leicestershire Police officers traveled to Bristol to carry out the arrest and are currently investigating the allegations. Both women, including Ms. Wandelt, are still in custody as inquiries into the matter continue. In a surprising turn of events, it was revealed that Ms. Wandelt claimed to be Madeleine McCann in an Instagram post in 2023 but later took a DNA test proving her Polish, with some Lithuanian and Romanian ancestry, and not the missing child.
According to Mr. Clair, the 23-year-old and her companion had come to the UK for a short stay with a friend. He emphasized that Ms. Wandelt refutes the stalking accusations brought against her. The disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal in 2007 at the age of three remains a high-profile case that has never been solved.
The case involving Julia Wandelt and her alleged stalking activities has garnered attention due to her previous claim of being the missing Madeleine McCann. With ongoing investigations and both women remaining in custody, the outcome of the situation remains uncertain. It is unclear how the case will unfold as law enforcement continues to look into the matter and gather evidence regarding the stalking allegations
