Massive Attack to bring “100% battery powered” show to London’s new LIDO festival

Massive Attack is set to headline the upcoming LIDO Festival at Victoria Park in East London this summer. The band’s performance on June 6 will be powered entirely by battery to reduce carbon emissions and local air pollution. This marks their first London festival show in nearly a decade and is part of a series of decarbonisation events.

Last year, Massive Attack celebrated 25 years of climate activism with a special gig in Bristol, known as the ACT 1.5 decarbonisation show. Now, they are bringing their environmentally friendly performance to London in collaboration with United Visual Artists and documentarian Adam Curtis. This will set a new standard for eco-conscious outdoor concerts in the capital.

Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja expressed excitement over presenting London’s first 100% battery-powered festival day with a diverse lineup of artists. The collaboration between art and science to tackle environmental challenges is a key aspect of their approach. Joining Massive Attack at LIDO Festival are Air, Tirzah, and Yasiin Bey & The Alchemist performing as FORENSICS.

The festival, spanning two weekends in June, will feature other headliners like Jamie xx and Charli XCX, as well as acts such as A.G. Cook, Bladee, Romy, Panda Bear, John Glacier, Sampha, Arca, DJ Gigola, and more. Tickets for LIDO’s inaugural event can be purchased on their website
