Liverpool’s Blackstone Street Warehouse under investigation over unauthorised road closures

Local officials in Liverpool are currently investigating the Blackstone Street warehouse for reportedly closing down roads around the venue without the proper permissions. The 10,000-capacity venue, located near Bramley-Moore Dock close to the newly-constructed Everton Stadium, has been accused of placing “road ahead closed” signs outside during its events, despite not seeking approval from councillors to block off nearby roads. Images taken during events in January 2025, including one showing a Merseyside Police van despite police claims of absence, have been referenced in the report.

A spokesperson for Blackstone Street Warehouse addressed the issue, stating that the third-party company handling road closures and traffic management is in discussions with the traffic police and Liverpool City Council representatives. They believe they have adequate support in place for future road closures if required. Despite being under a planning investigation by Liverpool City Council for operating without proper permissions, officials have declared the venue as operational. Describing it as an “occasional type venue” with a solid event management team, licensing authorities have never encountered compliance issues with Blackstone Street Warehouse.

Bramley-Moore Dock, a significant multi-use venue in Liverpool, has several large-scale parties lined up for 2025. These include a Glitterbox event in March and a Teletech party headlined by Alex Farrell in October. Liverpool City Council continues to monitor the situation, ensuring that all regulations and permissions are adhered to by the operators of Blackstone Street Warehouse. Awareness of such issues highlights the importance of compliance and safety measures in event venues to avoid any disruptions or potential hazards to the surrounding areas
