Blackwood: Seven men in court over barber shop turf war

Seven men have recently made an appearance in court facing charges related to an incident of anti-social behavior that occurred outside a barber shop. The case, which has been described as a “barbers’ turf war,” took place on Blackwood’s High Street around 14:45 GMT on 13 February. According to the proceedings at Newport Magistrates Court, the dispute arose from concerns about a new barber’s shop potentially opening in the nearby area of Newbridge.

During the hearing, it was revealed that a total of 16 individuals were involved in the altercation, resulting in several individuals sustaining injuries, with one individual requiring stitches for a stab wound. Among the men who appeared in court were Bave Hamed, Shahab Husseini, Sardam Ebrahimi, and Bryar Muradi, who all stood before magistrates on Monday and only spoke to confirm their names and dates of birth. Their solicitor, Paul Morris, indicated that all four men intended to plead not guilty to the charge of violent disorder.

Additionally, Alan Karimi, Adnan Mohamad, and Krmanj Sadiq, who also appeared in court on the same day, followed the same pattern of confirming their details without further comment. Defence solicitor, Nathan Jones, representing this group of men, stated that they, too, planned to plead not guilty to the charge of violent disorder. Following the hearing, all seven men were denied bail and are scheduled to reappear at Newport Crown Court on 17 March for further proceedings
