'Park House School in Grimsby has turned our lives around'

Park House in Grimsby is a school that has gained a reputation for accommodating some of the area’s most disruptive students. Referred to as the “naughty school,” the majority of learners are pupils who have either been permanently excluded or were at risk of suspension previously. Despite this, Park House is succeeding in transforming the lives of its students.

Angela Connell, the school’s learning lead, helps students learn vocational skills such as hairdressing and cooking. According to her, the key ingredient to Park House’s success is alternative learning, which uses fantastic facilities to give students a unique opportunity to learn differently.

Summer and Destiny, two of Angela’s students, both experienced serious setbacks in mainstream schools that ultimately led to their exclusion. However, they are both thriving in Park House.
