A woman has died in the Scottish Borders and a 31-year old man has been charged in connection with her death. Police were summoned to Windram Road in Chirnside at 4:35 am on Sunday and emergency services were dispatched. However, the woman had already passed away when they arrived. The man linked to her death is due to appear in Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
In a statement, police addressed the local community, stating that investigations are ongoing and that officers will continue to remain in the area. If locals have any concerns surrounding the incident, they should don’t hesitate in approaching the police. Authorities are notifying residents that additional patrols are being conducted and assure the public that measures will be taken to ensure their safety.
Chief Inspector Stuart Fletcher stated, “We understand this incident will cause concern within the local community and I want to reassure residents that there will be an ongoing police presence in the area. Additional patrols are being carried out and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to officers.”
