The Daisychain podcast has come to an end after 7 years

The Daisychain podcast, a series that celebrates women and non-binary folks in electronic music, has come to a close after seven years of operation. In a blog post titled “An End, A New Beginning” on the Daisychain website, founder Alicia Greco confirmed that the series will no longer be active in its present form. However, they suggested that the end of Daisychain could lead to the planting of new seeds for future projects. “The message and the community remain the same, with a whole new intention,” Greco wrote.

The final instalment of the podcast is an episode featuring Greco’s own Leesh moniker, titled “Daisychain 360.” Greco has been posting mixes from established and emerging DJs to Daisychain since 2017, attracting a large following. Moxie, Paurro, Jubilee, D. Tiffany, Ariel Zetina, and other well-known musicians are among the artists who have contributed mixes to the podcast. The podcast is known for its comprehensive Soundcloud biographies, in which each artist selects a favourite quote, provides advice to aspiring DJs, and includes a list of influences. A genre hashtag was also used alongside the biography, such as “bass4babes,” “Mermaid Techno,” “Lesbian house,” and “pilates princess.”

A blog post linked to the final episode of Daisychain thanked the community of music fans from around the world who had contributed to the podcast’s success. “We are grateful for the music, the friendships, and the moments shared on the dance floor. Thank you for welcoming us into your hearts and headphones,” it said. Greco did not reveal what new projects might emerge, but they made it clear that the enthusiasm for the positive impact of music would remain the same.

Greco’s full farewell message may be found on the Daisychain website. Mixmag’s Megan Townsend is the Deputy Editor
