LA fire relief fundraiser event to go ahead this month at The Bellwether

An event dedicated to helping those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles is due to take place later this month. The LA Gives Back: Fire Relief fundraiser will take place at The Bellwether on 29 January from 7:PM until 2:AM. The event is targeting Los Angeles’ independent music community to raise support and has been produced and curated by creative agency IHEARTCOMIX. Promoters, nightlife brands and labels have come together to help curate the event. Funds will go to help the victims, animals and first responders who urgently need relief aid through the wildfires.

The fires, which began on 7 January, are expected to be among the most destructive in US history. The wildfire has so far killed 27 people and destroyed over 10,000 homes and businesses. The Bellwether’s Casey Lowdermilk says the event aims to help those who have lost everything as a result of the disaster. Previous LA Gives Back events have featured the likes of Boys Noize, Flying Lotus, and Bonobo, raising more than $250,000 for charities in LA.

Other fire relief efforts have emerged in Los Angeles’ music scene in recent weeks. Dublab and record store In Sheep’s Clothing have announced a fundraiser record sale scheduled for February 2. Ibiza legend DJ Harvey has released a live recording of his opening night at Pikes in 2024, with all the proceeds going to fire relief charities in Los Angeles.

People who want to help those affected by the fire can use a list of resources found in the article. The list includes links for emergency notifications and maps of the fires, evacuation orders, animal shelters and road closures.
