Popstar Charli XCX is branching out into the movie business after it was announced that she will be producing and starring in a new film from A24. Charli’s new production company Studio365 will produce the film, while Brit producer and long-time collaborator A.G. Cook is on board to create the soundtrack. Details of the plot are currently being kept under wraps. However, Variety has confirmed that the British electro-pop star will have a main role in the movie.
It has been reported that the film, titled “The Moment,” is based on a screenplay by London-based writer Bertie Brandes and Scottish fashion photographer Aidan Zamiri, with the latter also serving as the film’s director. Past Lives and Zola producer David Hinojosa is also on board. A24 will handle the film’s global cinema distribution.
Charli is no stranger to the movie world and will also appear in Julia Jackman’s folk fairytale “100 Nights of Hero.” She has also taken on other upcoming film projects such as a Faces of Death remake, Romain Gavras’ comedy “Sacrifice,” and Pete Ohs’ directed drama “Erupcja.”
The announcement about Charli’s new project has come soon after the nominations for the 2025 BRIT Awards were revealed. Charli has been nominated in five categories, including Artists of the Year, Album of the Year, and Track of the Year.
As Charli is transforming from a chart-topping popstar to a producer of her movie, it is undefined how this work will impact her future in the music industry.
