Everton Park Lifestyles Centre had to be partially closed by Liverpool City Council earlier this month, due to damage to the roof. The closure currently affects the dry-side facilities, such as the gym, sports hall and squash courts, which are temporarily unavailable. Members have been asked to use facilities at an alternative Lifestyles Centre, except for the swimming pool, which remains open and operating as normal.
An assessment is ongoing, carried out by contractors hired by the city council, in order to determine the work necessary to fix the damage, and feedback on the next steps will be delivered once the tender and procurement process has been completed. Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, Councillor Harry Doyle, worked alongside teams to ensure the issue is resolved as efficiently as possible.
Doyle stated: “We understand the concerns raised by our Lifestyles members, community and gymnastic groups who use the centre, and will keep listening and working with you to address them.” He also promised to provide further updates once plans are finalised.
The Community Asset Transfer is an ongoing discussion between Liverpool City Council and Notre Dame Catholic Academy, committed to making the facilities work for all those who use them, ensuring a sustainable future. In the meantime, Liverpool City Council asked members for their understanding and patience until the situation is resolved
