Liverpool City Council has unveiled a new plan to unite the community and prevent future unrest following last year’s wide-scale disorder. Local voluntary, community, and faith groups are being encouraged to play a vital role in shaping the strategy, which will act as a catalyst to bring communities together.
The council has been issued £57,000 from HM Government to support local projects in preparation for the strategy. The funds are open to voluntary, community, and faith groups in the Liverpool area to apply for to execute small projects in their local areas.
Organisations will need to work hand-in-hand with the council in properly executing their funded projects and essentially contribute to shaping the cohesion strategy scheduled to run throughout 2025. Organisations can submit a written submission, take part in a survey, or participate in an informal meeting or conversation to provide feedback to the council.
The council welcomes both well-established and recently established groups across the city to become part of this initiative and help shape the interactions between communities. The grant specification is available for eligible organisations, with a list of project examples and criteria provided for applying to the Communities Together Grant programme online.
