All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield is in shock after a 15-year-old boy named locally as Harvey Willgoose was stabbed and died from his injuries. The school’s headteacher sent a message to parents informing them of the incident. An arrest has been made of another 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. South Yorkshire police are investigating the incident and attempting to establish the reasons why the incident occurred.
Many left tributes of flowers and notes outside the school. Some of the tributes noted that the victim was the life and soul of the party, while others recognised his kindness and how he would boost the mood of the people around him. A teenager who had known the deceased left his own tribute outside the school and identified the boy as a Sheffield United football team supporter.
Parents and children in the area have expressed concerns over the event and anti-knife campaigners feel that incidents like this should not happen. Sheffield Heeley MP, Louise Haigh, commented that the news was horrific and that there will need to be an answer about why it had happened.
Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, commented that the tragic events in Sheffield had left him contemplating the deceased family and what they were going through. He added that the entire community should come together to support everyone involved through their grief. The force is also asking for the media and community to refrain from speculation that would distract them from the ongoing investigation.
