The night sky has been putting on a spectacular show this February, as six planets aligned to create a planetary parade. BBC Weather Watchers across the UK reported sightings of the crescent Moon and Venus close together at the beginning of the month. Images of the stunning celestial show flooded in from across the country, with some capturing the tops of trees and houses along with the celestial bodies.
While the skies in the southeast of the UK were exceptionally clear on February 1, cloud cover is predicted to prevail over the next few nights. However, as the week goes on, there is a greater chance of clearer skies for many parts of the country. If you’re hoping to glimpse at the stars, remember to wrap up warmly as cold nights and frosty mornings are expected all week.
As always, BBC Weather encourages photography enthusiasts to capture the weather for everyone to marvel at. If you enjoy taking weather photos and would like to share with others, sign up and join our BBC Weather Watchers community.
