Storm Éowyn: More than 35,000 still without power in Northern Ireland


Storm Éowyn has caused widespread damage and disruption across Northern Ireland. The National Trust has reported the loss of a “large quantity of trees”, including an ancient beech tree over 200 years old, which is now lost at Castle Ward. Experts say Northern Ireland is already one of the least wooded parts of Europe. The storm has also caused power and water outages, with more than 600 properties still without water on Tuesday. Over 400 electricity engineers and field staff have been redeployed across the UK to assist with the clean-up operation, with teams from Jersey Electricity dispatched to Northern Ireland to help with the power restoration efforts
