Football fan builds own stand in Barnoldswick back garden

Ian Nutter, a football enthusiast from east Lancashire, has constructed a stand in his garden to improve his experience of watching games. Nutter, who resides beside Barnoldswick Town FC’s Silentnight stadium, claimed he erected the structure to prevent his nine grandsons from “hanging over the fence” to view matches. The glass-fronted, six-seated steel frame, wrapped in wood, also features lighting and heating. Nutter, a 65-year-old architectural engineer, said he was able to create the stand because he had once made executive stands for Manchester United approximately eight years ago.

Nutter remarked, “I thought I’d better build something for the grandsons to watch safely,” and cited that “there’s a 15ft drop on the other side of the fence,” as the reason. “Being a metal worker, I decided to make a stadium that could be my happy place,” he continued. Nutter is a Clarets fan for life, having attended his first Burnley game in 1973. He even learned how to make pork pies so that he can enjoy them while viewing games, despite taking several years to perfect the recipe.

However, Nutter is most content when he is situated in his private stand with his family. “We all pile in, and I thoroughly enjoy it,” he stated. He has recently begun selling “Sean Dyche salami,” with proceeds donated to the Burnley FC community foodbank, and he has conducted charity auctions for the team, raising £3,000.

Nutter has finally agreed to give fans from his hometown a chance to sample his handmade pies, which has garnered widespread attention on social media
