Boy, 12, killed in Hall Green stabbing was 'adored'

The West Midlands community is in mourning after a 12-year-old boy named Leo Ross was fatally stabbed in Birmingham. The attack took place on Tuesday afternoon and Leo was discovered near Scribers Lane in Hall Green, suffering from a stab wound to his stomach. Despite being rushed to hospital, Leo tragically passed away from his injuries. The West Midlands police have arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of murder, as well as being linked to an assault on an elderly woman in January.

Leo’s school, Christ Church C of E Secondary Academy, is devastated by the news. Executive headteacher, Diane Henson described Leo as a “lively and happy young man” who had many friends and was loved within the school community. She has shared that students are being supported, a condolence book is being opened with the family’s permission, and that everyone is struggling to accept such a loss.

The police have also expressed their shock and condolences, with Ch Supt Richard North labelling the attack as “an appalling and senseless attack.” Nothing can be done to diminish the unbearable agony that the family and loved ones of Leo Ross must now be going through, despite the best efforts to provide support at this difficult time.

Leo Ross was simply a boy walking home from school when his life was tragically taken. His family has described him as funny, sweet, and “not one aggressive bone in his body.” Flowers and messages have appeared at the scene of the attack and the community is seeking justice for Leo
