Six-figure pay-out over charity cyclist killing


The family of Tony Parsons, a grandfather from Tillicoultry, in Clackmannanshire who was killed by drink driver, Alexander McKellar, while riding his bike in September 2017, will receive a six-figure compensation payout. McKellar and his twin brother, Robert, hid Parsons’ body after the collision and his body was not found for over three years. The brothers were later jailed and the settlement was agreed with the insurer of the car driven by McKellar.

Parsons went missing during a 104-mile (167km) charity bike ride from Fort William back to his home town. He had previously been treated for prostate cancer and wanted to do the ride to raise money for charity. Sandy McKellar collided with Parsons on the A82 between Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum on 29 September 2017.
